No one likes to repeat themselves, yet in mobile development we do it all the time, writing the same thing for both iOS and Android. It can lead to team coordination problems, increased costs and poor quality of final product. Lately, there’s been a significant effort to deal with this problem, and Google claims to have “the next big thing” up their sleeve. It involves Dart, language from 2011 that was presumed to be dead, and Flutter, new framework that takes a very interesting approach to cross-platform development. We are going to check it out, and see if it’s going to stay around.

Code reviews, despite the many benefits they bring, are sometimes treated as a necessary evil. Programmers are convinced that this is unnecessary worktime, which extends the delivery time of the product, and that it is an unpleasant duty to look at a huge amount of unintelligible changes or unpleasant comments.

However, if the reviews of the code are approached in a good way, they become a powerful tool not only improving the quality of what we produce as developers, but also reducing the number of errors occurring in later stages of product development. Remembering a few simple rules during the review, we will feel their value and the actual improvement of the quality of our work.

Idea of smart contracts emerged from cryptocurrency world. It appeared first on Ethereum, which provided a generic platform for all kinds of contracts, written as scripts and loaded into Ethereum Virtual Machine. However, despite (or because of) its genericity, Ethereum has some limitations and problems hard to overcome. Based on this experience, other companies decided to implement different ledger applications, still based on blockchain, but with different approach to processing smart contracts.

This presentation is a comparison of two of such tools, embraced under Hyperledger umbrella: Fabric and Sawtooth. Even though main idea of blockchain remains the same, processing smart contract transactions may happen in a completely different way. These tools does not have to be considered as competition to each other: because of the differences they can perform better for different business scenarios.
